Not at all! I have it myself and it’s a great collection of highlights from the label. One of my early box set purchases. Their later Lumieres box is a nice companion to this.
My best guess is that it’s due to the extra work when setting shipping rates, without good prospects of increasing sales. Since the UK (like Norway) is not part of the EU, most carriers charge higher rates. So the seller would need to go through the hassle of defining one additional shipping area, with a higher shipping rate which could make the total item price too high.
I believe atonal means the music doesn’t adhere to any particular key; all notes have equal importance, while dissonant music has an abundance of dissonant intervals.
Many of the sellers have expensive shipping, but not all. As I wrote on the previous page, I’ve made many orders where the final price per item (including shipping and VAT) landed somewhere between 50 and 100 NOK, for items in very good to mint condition.
Medimops also sells via Amazon marketplace, but in my experience their grading is often inaccurate, and the packaging not so sturdy.
There’s lots of bargains to be made on Discogs. You just need to find a seller with a decent shipping rate, then buy in bulk to lower the shipping per item. Make sure the seller has a rating close to 100%, as that’s an indicator of accurate grading. Maybe the best version of Fauré’s Requiem I’ve heard (can’t decide between this one and the one by Herreweghe on Harmonia Mundi).
Such a breathtakingly beautiful work.Thanks for the recomendation. I haven’t checked it out yet, but for now I haven’t heard a recording with a better soloist than Lisa Beckley on Naxos.
