Now I am feeling really old 😉

Sadly not unexpected. Somehow glad that I decided not tried to “invest” in tickets (It was hard to get through anyway, a friend of mine tried and failed)

I do like Zimmer often but I am not a fan of him like I am of Goldsmith or Williams. He’s good suited for best of playlists. For example I don’t rank GLADIATOR that high althought there are some nice tracks. And I tend to like his earlier stuff more than the newer ones.

Having said that, he does sometimes surprise me. I might be the only person in the world to say this, but my favourite Zimmer score is the small drama comedy SPANGLISH, which is so beautiful and lyrical. Highly recommended.

Do you know his Irish-celtic influenced score to EVERLASTING PIECE? I found that surprising as well.

Interessing, I like ED WOOD as well 😉

Over here that was one of the Christmas mini series. Great fun score. Yes, there was a release: https://www.discogs.com/release/3211107-Christian-Bruhn-Jack-Holborn-Die-Musik-Von-Christian-Bruhn-Aus-Der-Gleichnamigen-Fernsehserie

I thought it was still available digitally but seems not so. But you find parts on Youtube.

Yeah, the droney stuff is not that interesting but I guess you can say it works in its film. Well, minimum requiremennt for a film score 😉

Ah, I heard of Medimops but never used it. Guess I should try that, too. Our public library here has a bargain store as well were you can buy things they don’t want to add to their archive or sorted out. Often not the best condition and lacking booklets (they put all CDs in plastic envelopes) but can still be used/ripped.

It was not meant as a source for your list, just as a general info to the topic in general as I just noticed that. bandcamp is primarily downloads but if Varese choose so they could also sell CDs or other “merch”.

There has been some work under the hood of the site theme. If anyone encounters weird or broken layout your browser caches need to be cleared manually. Browser caches are really persistent these days and often serve outdate files for longer than they should.

I looked into adding a like button to replies but sadly I have not found any suitable plugin for this. Either ugly, too limited and requiring buying a pro version or totally outdated… Sorry.

What about inserting a space or vertical line between the time and “EDIT”/”REPLY” in the header of each post? 🙂

I could not do that as we admins have several links more so it gets a new line below thte post date now. Since the reply link was confusing I have hidden it now.

The login form at the bottom that was not working due to plugin conflicts with captcha has been removed now.

Malte, your habits sound more or less similar to mine, although your collection dwarfs mine. Almost 8000 albums? Enough for three lifetimes.

Yeah, a lot and surely too much… and not all music as mentioned. Probably also some orphaned entries as Apple Music/iTutnes makes it unnecessarily hard to find/cleanup these. And probably I should remove a few things I haven’t managed to listen to or will never again… But since digital space is cheap…

By the way, these are the CDs I’m looking for:

Sorry, have serveral digitally but none on CD…

Btw, Varese just opened up a bandcamp page: https://varesesarabande.bandcamp.com/

Seems even a bit cheaper than on other onlien vendors where Vareses albums are quite expensive. Even if VAT taxes add up on checkout.

I had to keep that to myself back then, LOL!

Probably lots of us not having the hip music taste had similar experience 😉 Btw, I hated hiphop decades ago but warmed up to certain styles of it meanwhile.

LOCAL HERO works great although a bit “formless” as an album. Great theme. Besides old westerns and such a favorite movie I saw several times with my father.

That’s an interesting reversal of premise. I really can’t think of anything I liked that I now dislike either.

Me neither although there are scores like Star Wars I listend to that often that I am sometimes a bit tired of them. If you know what I mean…
